Robert Chin was hired as chief administration and information officer for Boston-based Minuteman Health, a new insurance plan doing business in Massachusetts as a consumer-operated and -oriented health plan, a program created by the healthcare reform law.
Minuteman, whose partners include Tufts Medical Center, Nashville-based Vanguard Health System and the New England Quality Care Alliance, received an $88.5 million federal grant last year to support the not-for-profit venture.
In the late 1990s, Chin was a co-founder of NaviNet, which offers a Web-based platform for communication among physicians, hospitals and insurers. He comes to Minuteman from Compass Healthcare Advisers.
The CO-OP plans were devised to give consumers an alternative to commercial insurance companies selling coverage in the insurance exchanges under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
