WebMD Health Corp., which provides health information through online portals, mobile platforms and publications, has appointed David Schlanger CEO and Dr. Steven Zatz president, effective Aug. 11.
Schlanger, 53, has served WebMD and its predecessor companies in senior roles for more than a decade. Schlanger has acted as interim CEO since May 2013, and before that, was senior VP for strategic and corporate development for the New York-based company.

“With David's leadership, we are well-positioned to build on the current momentum and maintain our focus on the development and implementation of the strategies necessary to diversify our revenue base and capture the opportunities arising from the rapidly changing healthcare landscape,” WebMD Chairman Martin Wygod said in a news release.
Zatz, 56, has also been with WebMD and its predecessors for more than 10 years, most recently as executive VP for professional services. In his new role as president, he will continue to be responsible for WebMD's professional websites and services, including Medscape.com, but will also oversee the company's consumer sites and services.
“Steve is well-suited to capture the synergies between our leading consumer and professional portals and lead our efforts as we position WebMD and Medscape as the hub of a set of services that will facilitate information exchange between patients and their healthcare providers,” Wygod said in the release.
