Margolis, 67, will transition out of the HealthCare Partners CEO role in mid-2014, but will retain his position on the board and remain involved in a number of initiatives, including business development, service enhancement, supporting the company's management transition and future strategic projects.
Before joining DaVita HealthCare Partners, Samitt was president and CEO of Dean Health Systems in Madison, Wis.
“I have worked to recruit and groom our future leaders, including Craig, for years and to serve our patients and communities with distinction,” Margolis said in the release. “I'm as enthusiastic as ever about our model of care and look forward to continuing to shape it.”
In the same release, Samitt said, “Bob has been an inspiration and a mentor for nearly a decade, and it is an honor to join his team, carry on his legacy and work side by side with DaVita HealthCare Partners as we continue to transform American healthcare.”
DaVita HealthCare Partners, is the parent company of DaVita and HealthCare Partners. Renal-care giant DaVita acquired Torrance, Calif.-based HealthCare Partners in 2012.
