Group Health names Trehearne VP of primary care

Group Health, a not-for-profit health system based in Seattle, has named Barbara Trehearne VP of primary care, effective July 26.

Trehearne, whose age was not immediately available, has been serving in the VP of primary-care role on an interim basis since April. She is also VP for clinical excellence of nursing and quality at Group Health, as well as an associate dean of clinical practice at the University of Washington School of Nursing and an adjunct faculty member at Seattle Pacific University.

As VP of primary care, Trehearne will continue to work with Group Health's medical director of primary care, Dr. Claire Trescott, to implement the system's medical home and prepare for changes under healthcare reform.

“We're happy to have Barbara take on this important role at such a critical time,” Mark Szalwinski, executive VP of the group practice division for Group Health, said in a news release. “Barbara's deep knowledge of the organization and her breadth of experience make her the ideal choice for this position.”
