Blue Cross of Minnesota adds two medical directors

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota has hired two physicians—Dr. Andrea Hillerud and Dr. Maureen White—to help lead its medical affairs department.

As medical director of quality and health outcomes, Hillerud will develop new initiatives that further the measurement of these outcomes, while also supporting Blue Cross' quality-oriented contracting with providers. Hillerud joins the Eagan, Minn.-based company from Security Health Plan of Wisconsin, an HMO, where she served as medical director since 2006.

White, formerly executive medical director at General Electric Healthcare, comes to Blue Cross as its senior medical director of medical policy. In this role, she will oversee the evaluation of emerging services, treatments and technology assessments being considered for benefit coverage. White will also be involved in utilization management case review.

Their ages were not immediately available.
