David Wennergren, assistant deputy chief management officer for the Defense Department, has announced that he will retire from the position next month.
Under his current title with the department, which he will vacate Aug. 1, Wennergren's responsibilities include optimizing the Defense Department's operations in order to enhance its efficiencies and effectiveness. His age and his post-retirement plans were not made immediately available.
Wennergren has been with the Defense Department in various roles for more than 30 years, with experience in financial, information and technology management. He also served the Department of the Navy as CIO for four years, in addition to other official capacities. And as director of the Department of Defense business transformation agency and its veterans affairs interagency program office, Wennergren influenced the improvement of health IT for the military, veterans and their families.
