WellCare Health Plans, provider of managed-care services for government-sponsored healthcare programs, has named Dr. Steven Goldberg to the role of chief medical officer.
Goldberg, 52, joins the Tampa, Fla.-based company from Coventry Healthcare of Kentucky, where he served as senior medical director. In his new position at WellCare, effective July 8, Goldberg's responsibilities will include participating in strategic planning and policy direction; driving quality and accreditation results; enhancing cultural competency, population health and program effectiveness initiatives; and representing the company's position on healthcare and medical issues.
