Outliers doesn't usually think of the Cleveland Clinic as a pop culture epicenter. But then it was revealed in June that the medical center was being credited with saving the life of rock legend Lou Reed with a liver transplant in May. Now the clinic is apparently a movie set.
A source told a local Cleveland newspaper and a comic-book trade publication that the renowned medical center is serving as a set location in the latest Captain America film.
The cast of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” has been filming the new Marvel Studios production at various sites throughout Cleveland, including at a local art museum, private homes and along the Cleveland Memorial Shoreway.
The inclusion of the clinic as a set location has also spurred some old-fashioned speculation that one of the characters may die. “Now that a hospital location has been revealed, does this mean someone is really dying?” The Daily SuperHero asked.
The Reed transplant even earned the clinic a glowing tribute from the patient's wife, performance artist Laurie Anderson. “The Cleveland Clinic is massive. They have the best results for heart, liver and kidney transplants. Whenever I get discouraged about how stupid technology is and how greedy and stupid Americans are, I go to the Cleveland Clinic because the people there are genuinely very kind and very smart,” Anderson told the Times of London newspaper.
So what's next, Cleveland Clinic? Outliers will be perusing Entertainment Weekly for the latest updates.
