Premier names Anderson COO of informatics, technology services

Leigh Anderson has been named COO of informatics and technology services at Premier healthcare alliance in Charlotte, N.C.

Anderson, 45, joins Premier with more than two decades of information technology experience in corporate and provider settings, most recently as CIO of HealthTrust and information technology and services CIO for the supply chain division of the Hospital Corporation of America. In his newly created role, he will oversee Premier's quality and safety improvement, population health management, and cost reduction applications.

“As healthcare becomes more integrated and accountable, the technology supporting it must rapidly improve,” Premier's senior VP of healthcare informatics Keith Figlioli said in a release. “Constant innovation is key to helping our members deliver high quality, cost-effective care. Leigh's diverse expertise will help strengthen our processes and operations across IT as we further evolve Premier's strategies.”

Anderson has also held executive roles with Global Healthcare Exchange, which works with providers and suppliers to create a more efficient and cost-effective healthcare supply chain. This morning, Premier and Anderson's former company announced a partnership that will allow Premier members to connect to the GHX Collaboration Portal—a tool that helps manufacturers, distributors, providers and group purchasing organizations to collaboratively synchronize contract pricing in order to reduce errors, increase transparency and enhance price accuracy.
