Steve Altmiller is set to become president and CEO of Longview, Texas-based Good Shepherd Health System, effective July 22.
Altmiller, 56, was hired to assume leadership of the three-hospital system from executive VP Ken Cunningham, who has served as interim CEO since the board removed Ed Banos from the position last September.
Altmiller most recently was president of North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. That hospital's parent, North Mississippi Health Services, was a 2012 winner of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.
At the end of May, Banos, 48, was named president and COO of Marquette (Mich.) General Hospital, which was acquired last year by Duke LifePoint Healthcare.
