Ashley Regional Medical Center named Ben Cluff to succeed Steve Selzer as CEO, effective July 15.
Selzer has served as interim CEO of the Vernal, Utah-based hospital since January, according to a news release. Cluff will join LifePoint Hospitals, which owns Ashley Regional, from Community Health Systems, where he was named in May 2012 assistant CEO of the College Station (Texas) Medical Center.
“His knowledge in both hospital operations and physician practice management will help strengthen the hospital for the future and will be an asset to responding to many of the changes and financial implications associated with healthcare reform,” said Don Bivacca, president of the Western Group of LifePoint Hospitals. An Ashely Regional spokesperson could not be reached at deadline for Cluff's age.
LifePoint's Clinch Valley Medical Center, Richlands, Va., promoted Peter Mulkey to CEO from COO, a position he has held since 2010. He joined the hospital 30 years ago and moved from clinical pharmacies to director of pharmacy services to assistant hospital administrator.
