Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems has announced that Catherine Bruno, its VP and CIO, plans to retire in December.
Bruno has overseen the Brewer, Maine, healthcare system's information systems applications, operations and staff since 2005, also leading its implementation of an electronic health-record system.
“In today's healthcare environment, leaders must collaborate in creative ways; Cathy brings that skill into every project she undertakes,” EMHS senior VP and chief transformation officer Dr. Richard Freeman said in a release. “EMHS' information technology is stronger today because of her leadership and we will miss her.”
According to Freeman, the health system will work with a national search firm to identify a replacement CIO when Bruno retires on Dec. 6. Bruno, whose age was not immediately available, plans to pursue a degree in organ and church music following her retirement.
