“His leadership and ability to form strategic partnerships has ensured that state-of-the-art care is close to home for Metro Detroit children,” Detroit Medical Center CEO Joseph Mullany said in a news release. Children's Hospital is part of the Detroit Medical Center system.
A pediatrician, Gray has spent eight years as president of the hospital. He'll continue as president while officials conduct a national search for his replacement. His new job will allow him to work on expanding services at the hospital, including ambulatory care, while working with Vanguard officials on pediatric care and academic endeavors. Four years ago, he was appointed the Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission, a federal advisory panel. Gray also was named to Modern Healthcare's Top 25 Minorities in Healthcare in 2010.
