Eastar Health System in Muskogee, Okla., has named Anthony Young its CEO, effective June 17.
Young, 54, brings with him more than three decades of healthcare experience, including serving for the past year as president and COO of CareATC, a Tulsa, Okla.-based company that provides employer-sponsored healthcare products and services. Before that, Young was founder, president and CEO of SouthCrest Hospital in Tulsa.
“Muskogee is indeed fortunate to have such a high quality professional as Mr. Young take the reins of our hospital,” Kathy Hewitt, chairman of the hospital's board of trustees, said in a news release.
Young replaces former CEO Kevin Fowler, who resigned, effective April 1, in order to relocate closer to family.
“The physicians have been involved in the recruitment process for the new CEO,” Dr. Dwayne Atwell, president of the medical staff, said in the release. “From our evaluation of Tony Young, we found an experienced, physician-oriented CEO with vast healthcare experience. Being a resident of Oklahoma and working in the Tulsa area for the past 22 years, we believe he will be the right person to lead our hospital to the high standard we all desire and deserve.”
