PatientsLikeMe, Cambridge, Mass., has named Marcia Nizzari VP of engineering.
PatientsLikeMe is an online network that allows patients to connect with others who have the same disease or condition while they track and share their experiences with one another. As they do so, they also generate data about their diseases that is then used as a resource by researchers, pharmaceutical companies, regulators, providers and not-for-profits to develop improved products, services and care.
Nizzari joins the company from Good Start Genetics, a molecular diagnostics lab, also in Cambridge, where she was director of bioinformatics and high performance computing/information technology. In her new role at PatientsLikeMe, Nizzari will help with the design of future platforms and oversee all engineering projects.
“Marcia has joined the team at a time when we're evolving our website to meet emerging patient needs and securing more partner projects,” COO Sebastiaan Foppema said in a news release. “Her software expertise and technical management experience will be instrumental to ensuring we align our resources with the best interests of patients and partners.
Nizzari's age was not immediately available.
