Constellation Software acquires QuadraMed

Through its wholly owned subsidiary N. Harris Computer Corp., Constellation Software in Toronto has acquired Francisco Partners' portfolio company QuadraMed Corp.

QuadraMed, headquartered in Reston, Va., provides information technology products and services for the healthcare industry. Its acquisition is expected to help Harris enter the healthcare IT market—adding blue-chip clients, growing its product offerings, and increasing its Canadian and international market share—while complementing its existing presence in healthcare financial management, supply chain management and human resource management.

“QuadraMed is a great addition to the Harris family,” Harris CEO Jeff Bender said in a release. “Harris is a software company that is focused on providing software solutions that empower people who serve their communities. We currently do this in utilities, local government, schools, public safety, Canadian healthcare and now with QuadraMed—U.S. healthcare.”

Though financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, the companies announced that QuadraMed will continue to operate as a stand-alone business based in Reston, Va., and its current employees will also continue to develop, sell, implement and support QuadraMed's products.

“We are excited about the opportunity we have to continue to support QuadraMed in their goals of assisting healthcare providers in improving productivity, ensuring regulatory and legal compliance, and enhancing the quality of patient care and safety,” Daniel Desauliners, group president of Harris' healthcare group, said in the release.
