After nearly three years at the helm of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation, Dr. Richard Gilfillan will leave his position at the end of June, according to an internal announcement from CMS Administrator Marilyn Tavenner.
Gilfillan has played a key role in the development of CMS alternative payment and delivery models during his tenure. He joined the agency from the highly-regarded Geisinger Health System of Danville, Pa., where he led its insurance arm and helped turn the system into a frequently-touted model for how to achieve high quality and cost-effective care.
