Sister Judith Ann Karam, president and CEO of Sisters of Charity Health System since 1998, plans to resign July 26. Terrence Kessler, the Cleveland-based system's general counsel, will take over on an interim basis. Their ages weren't provided. The system includes three hospitals in Ohio and one in South Carolina. The leadership moves were announced following Karam's election as congregational leader for the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine, the founding religious organization for the Sisters of Charity. On May 20, Carol Garikes Schneider assumed leadership of Mercy Hospital & Medical Center in Chicago, succeeding longtime CEO Sister Sheila Lyne, who retired May 31. Schneider, 56, previously was COO of Cook County Health & Hospitals System. Last year, Mercy was acquired by Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health. …
Ohio health system ProMedica named Arturo Polizzi COO at Toledo Hospital. Polizzi, 41, joined the Toledo-based system as associate legal counsel in 1998. He currently is ProMedica's chief human resources officer and is set to assume the new role June 17. His responsibilities will include overseeing the Wildwood Orthopaedic & Spine Hospital and the Center for Health Services. …
Yousuf Ahmad is set to become the market president and CEO of Mercy Health, the Cincinnati division of Cincinnati-based Catholic Health Partners, effective June 15. Ahmad, 39, will assume leadership of Mercy Health from James May, who will now focus on his other role as executive VP for the parent system. Ahmad joined Mercy Health in 2004 as CIO and has been the organization's chief transformation officer since 2011. He also is interim president of its ACO and the executive leader of its heart institute.
Chicago-based Allscripts, which makes electronic health-record systems and other healthcare IT solutions, named Brian Farley senior VP, general counsel and corporate secretary. Farley joined Allscripts on May 28 from Motorola Mobility's Home Business, where he was general counsel. His age was not provided.
