Pete Palmer is the new chief security officer of MedAllies, a Fishkill, N.Y.-based company that helps healthcare providers with the implementation of electronic health records, the application of meaningful-use criteria and workflow redesign.
MedAllies hires Palmer as chief security officer
Palmer, 51, joined MedAllies on May 8 after serving as director of information security since 2009 for electronic prescription network Surescripts. In his new role, Palmer will oversee and manage MedAllies' information security program and ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of data. This means leading the security of MedAllies National Direct Network, which integrates certified EHRs used by its healthcare provider clients.
“As we continue to expand, we are mindful of the importance of building user trust and in doing so, selecting the right person to lead this effort internally is essential. Inadequate security and the ensuing lack of trust could derail interoperability efforts and ultimately stall healthcare transformation,” MedAllies CEO Dr. John Blair said in a news release. “Pete brings considerable practical experience, industry knowledge and the technical expertise we need.”
