Catholic Health Services taps Guerci for CEO post

Dr. Alan Guerci will be the new president and CEO of Catholic Health Services in Rockville Centre, N.Y., beginning July 1.

Guerci now serves as executive VP for Catholic Health Services and president and CEO of its St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn, N.Y., St. Joseph Hospital in Bethpage, N.Y., and Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre. He will take over for Richard Sullivan Jr., who has been volunteering as the health system's CEO since December 2012, while also continuing to act as chairman of its board of directors.

“Dr. Guerci brings more than 20 years of service to CHS and has established himself in the Long Island community as a highly respected physician and accomplished healthcare leader,” Sullivan said in a news release.

Guerci, a trained cardiologist, is also an associate professor of clinical medicine at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University. His age was not immediately available.
