The American Psychiatric Association named Dr. Saul Levin to replace retiring CEO and medical director Dr. James Scully. Since July 2012, Levin has served as interim director of the District of Columbia Department of Health. He has been active with the APA since 1987, and he has served as VP of science, medicine and public health at the American Medical Association. Levin will start in mid-July and will work with Scully until the fall. Scully, the APA's CEO and medical director for 12 years, announced in 2011 that he planned to retire when his contract expires at the end of this year.

Beth Israel Deaconess Care Organization, a Boston-based accountable care organization launched in January, announced that Christina Severin will join as its first president and CEO in late June. Severin, whose age was not provided, has been serving as president of Tufts Health Plan subsidiary Network Health since 2006. Beth Israel Deaconess Care Organization includes more than 1,700 physicians serving patients in eastern Massachusetts. The ACO is governed by the leadership of the member physicians' organizations, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and its community hospitals.
