Lee is the chief medical information officer for PIH Health, which includes 409-bed Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital, the flagship of the Whittier, Calif.-based integrated delivery network. Lee began his medical practice at PIH as a pediatric hospitalist in 2006, the same year the hospital began installing its electronic health-record system, which now serves its inpatient, ambulatory and home healthcare units. As medical director of informatics beginning in 2008 and CMIO in 2013, he led the hospital's effort to meet Stage 1 meaningful-use requirements under the Medicare EHR incentive payment program.
White is the medical informatics director for ABQ Health Partners, a physician-led, multispecialty medical group practice based in Albuquerque, N.M. When ABQ Health Partners merged in 2012 with HealthCare Partners, a Torrance, Calif., independent practice association (which became DaVita HealthCare Partners last November), Smith led the effort to help the New Mexico group's 230 physicians match the seven pay-for-performance measures their California colleagues faced, achieving six of them in only five months.
Mathews is the CMIO at Medical Center Health System in Odessa, Texas. He used leverage from the Stage 1 meaningful-use effort to push forward computerized physician-order entry at the 306-bed hospital. By analyzing order set usage, Mathews and his colleagues led a fact-based outreach to physicians, engaging them to adopt CPOE and participate in clinical quality-improvement efforts.
Harper is a physician informaticist and emergency medicine specialist at 323-bed St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, Calif. He led the first installation of an EHR, including order entry, at the hospital's emergency department in 2004, then called on that experience to help physicians and employees throughout the hospital meet its meaningful-use criteria within three weeks of system “go live.”
Carrell is a founding member of the Idaho Health Planning Commission, which launched the Idaho Health Data Exchange in 2007. In May 2011, Carrell became the executive director of the statewide HIE, whose membership has grown to nearly 1,200 users, including nine hospitals, more than 50 practices and clinics, and five laboratories. The latest project, launched in June, is a statewide imaging exchange.
