Galen Healthcare Solutions, Grosse Pointe, Mich., has named Joel Splan its new CEO as of April 29. Splan replaces Galen co-founder and former CEO Steve McQueen, who will continue as chairman of the board of directors for the company, which helps physician groups transition to electronic health records.
Splan named CEO of Galen Healthcare Solutions
“It's time to capitalize on the tremendous opportunities tied to the need for application interoperability, population management and value-based medicine,” McQueen said in a release.
Splan, whose age was not immediately available, brings almost 15 years of related industry experience—in clinical information systems, data center environments, technical infrastructure and service management processes—to the role. He most recently served as director of information services, chief security executive and director of technology and infrastructure management at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare in Chicago.
“Joel understands the challenges facing stakeholders as healthcare migrates to a value-based compensation model and is uniquely positioned to help us crystallize our vision for the future of Galen,” McQueen said in the release.
