Harkin calls attention to important issue

Regarding “Democratic senator blocks vote on Tavenner nomination”:

I would normally be pretty irritated to see a Democratic senator block a Democratic president's CMS nominee. We have enough problems with Republican senators blocking appointments with little or no reason except to play politics and attempt to cause the White House embarrassment.

However, diverting hundreds of millions of dollars and potentially billions of dollars from the Prevention and Public Health Fund to other priorities is a significant White House mistake. Sen. Tom Harkin is calling attention to an important public health concern.
