Bastone tapped for Chesapeake Regional CEO post

Chesapeake Regional Medical Center in Chesapeake, Va., has named Peter Bastone president and CEO, effective April 15.

Bastone, 56, has served more than three decades in healthcare leadership positions, including stints as president and CEO of Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo, Calif., and Mission Hospital Laguna Beach in Laguna Beach, Calif. Most recently, Bastone was chief administrative officer of CHA Health Systems, which operates facilities in Los Angeles and Seoul, South Korea.

“Peter's experience and expertise as a healthcare administrator will help lead Chesapeake Regional through this time of unprecedented change in the healthcare industry,” Bob Oman, chairman of the Chesapeake Hospital Authority board, said in a news release. “I am confident that his knowledge and leadership skills will guide us through the challenges ahead, helping Chesapeake Regional preserve its independence and maintain its focus on patient satisfaction and quality improvement.”

Bastone replaced Wynn Dixon, Jr., who announced his retirement in July 2012.
