Piedmont Healthcare, Atlanta, has named Kevin Brown president and CEO, effective next month.
Brown, 46, succeeds R. Timothy Stack, who died on July 30 after a brief illness. Dr. Patrick Battey, chair of the Piedmont Healthcare Board of Directors, has been serving as interim CEO of the system.
Brown currently serves as CEO of Swedish Health Services, Seattle, a position he has held since last year. His previous roles with the system included chief strategic officer as well as senior VP and chief administrative officer.
Before joining Swedish, Brown held a number of strategic and business development roles at Providence Health & Services, which affiliated with Swedish last year, and was part of the start-up management team for PacifiCare of Washington.
Swedish on April 1 appointed Marcel Loh, current chief executive of its suburban hospitals and affiliates division, as interim CEO while it carries out a national search for Brown's replacement.
