Susan Dentzer is leaving her post as VP and editor-in-chief of Health Affairs to join the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's Washington office, according to a spokesman for Project HOPE, the not-for-profit that operates the health policy journal.
Founding editor John Iglehart, who retired in 2007 after leading the publication for 25 years, will return to serve in Dentzer's role on a temporary basis and will also help to lead a search for her successor, according to a news release.
Dentzer joined Health Affairs in 2008. Prior to that, she spent a decade as a health correspondent for the PBS NewsHour. She also held posts at Newsweek and U.S. News and World Report. She is an elected member of the Institute of Medicine.
Before he founded Health Affairs, Iglehart was a vice president of the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan. He also served since 1981 as a national correspondent for the New England Journal of Medicine.
Dentzer's salary and other compensation for 2012 totaled $347,547, according to Project HOPE's most recent IRS Form 990.
