Mary Zuckerman, executive vice president of administrative services at the Detroit Medical Center, left the for-profit hospital system Friday in a restructuring that phased out her job, sources told Crain's.
Zuckerman, who had been employed by the eight-hospital DMC since 2004, had been in her current job since January. She was COO from 2010 to 2012, chief of business operations from 2005 to 2010 and vice president of finance from 2004 to 2005.
Sources said Zuckerman's responsibilities most likely would be divided among several executives including newly hired COO Rodney Huebbers.
Huebbers was hired by CEO Joe Mullany to take Mullany's president and COO spot when Mullany replaced Mike Duggan, who resigned as CEO on Dec. 31 to make a run for mayor of Detroit.
Zuckerman, who chairs the Wayne County Airport Authority, was unavailable for comment at presstime.
The DMC is owned by Nashville-based Vanguard Health Systems.
