Entertainer Jennifer Lopez and her foundation, the Lopez Family Foundation, have been named winners of the American Telemedicine Association's inaugural ATA Humanitarian Award.
Lopez and the foundation were honored for “their significant impact on pediatric and maternal healthcare, using telehealth in Latin America,” according to a news release from the ATA.
“ATA is honoring Jennifer Lopez and the Lopez Family Foundation for the amazing impact they have made with at-risk mothers and children, as well as the attention they have brought to telemedicine as a tool for modern, equitable healthcare,” said Jonathan Linkous, CEO of the American Telemedicine Association. “In her own life, Jennifer has seen the power of telemedicine to save lives; this experience inspired her to extend the benefits of remote healthcare to families around Latin America.”
GlobalMed, a privately owned Scottsdale, Ariz., telemedicine company, provided cash and other prizes to the foundation.
