“We created 100Plus with the goal of using data, design and technology to positively impact people's lives and health. Joining the innovative team at Practice Fusion will allow us to achieve these results on a massive scale,” Chris Hogg, CEO at 100Plus, said in a release.
100Plus was founded in 2011 as a member of Practice Fusion's health technology incubator. Its first app, launched in March 2012, demonstrated the impact of alcohol consumption on lifespan. Its second app, which is currently in beta, helps users discover, track and view the long-term effects of small health behaviors.
“The 100Plus team has found a way to inspire the average person to make daily changes in their lives—this is a huge challenge that is rarely achieved,” Patrick Dugan, associate vice president of corporate development at Practice Fusion, said in the release.
As part of Practice Fusion's first major acquisition, the team from 100Plus will come on board full-time as members of the data and product development groups. Hogg will be Practice Fusion's new associate vice president of data science.
Practice Fusion already serves the electronic medical-record needs of more than 150,000 users providing care to 56 million patients. The company completed a $34 million Series C financing in June 2012, led by Artis Ventures.
