Hanson tapped for CEO post at Baptist Health

Baptist Health, Louisville, Ky., has named Stephen Hanson president and CEO, effective March 8.

Hanson, 61, will replace Tommy Smith, who announced his retirement in June after serving as CEO since 1995. Smith spent 37 years at Baptist Health, formerly Baptist Healthcare System. Smith is credited with quadrupling the system's revenue and launching a systemwide rebranding, including a name change, according to a news release.

Hanson joins the system from Texas Health Resources, where he was most recently executive VP and operations leader for the Dallas-Fort Worth region. He has also served as president and CEO of Appalachian Regional Healthcare, Lexington, Ky.
