Dutch information-services firm Wolters Kluwer has closed on its acquisition of Denver-based medical terminology management company Health Language for undisclosed terms.
Wolters Kluwer's health division announced the deal in October. Health Language, which has about 85 employees, provides software and databases of medical language that let healthcare providers map and manage disparate medical terminology and diagnosis codes used in the U.S. and internationally.
A Wolters Kluwer news release said the acquisition comes as many providers and payers are trying to find ways to increase their adoption and meaningful use of electronic health records and share clinical data among interoperable systems.
Health Language also provides services for the upcoming switch to ICD-10, the next-generation system of international diagnosis codes developed by the World Health Organization and already implemented in many countries globally.
