Michael Mahoney has assumed the role of president and CEO of Natick, Mass.-based medical device company Boston Scientific Corp., effective Nov. 1. He succeeds interim CEO Hank Kucheman.
Mahoney, 47, was named president and CEO of Boston Scientific in Sept. 2011, following the May announcement that Raymond Elliott would step down after two years as CEO. Mahoney assumed the role of president in October 2011, but because of non-compete obligations with his former employer, New Brunswick, N.J.-based Johnson & Johnson, it was more than a year before he was able to formally transition into the CEO post.
