The Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences in New York will launch a program next year for a master of science degree in health informatics.
The graduate school's Center for Healthcare Informatics and Policy, also called CHiP, is accepting applications for the January program, according to a news release. Students can use the degree to pursue careers in health information technology, analytics, management, research and policy.
"By emphasizing systems science, this program offers students a unique and much-needed perspective on health and healthcare,” said Dr. Stephen Johnson, CHiP’s program director and associate director for education.
Full-time students can complete the program in 12 months. Courses include healthcare information exchange, privacy and security; using electronic clinical data for research; and introduction to biostatistics.
A spokeswoman said in an e-mail that the program requires a bachelor's degree in health, information technology, or a related discipline.
