Nuance Communications, a Burlington, Mass.-based software developer that specializes in speech recognition and imaging systems, announced it will acquire Quantim, the health information management business of Reston, Va.-based QuadraMed, for undisclosed terms.
Quantim is a set of software and services for coding and compliance. The Quantim purchase will support Nuance's work to "ease providers' transition to ICD-10," Nuance said in a news release.
"The integration of Nuance's clinical language understanding technology with Quantim's computer-assisted coding solution will fuel a more-efficient coding workflow and speed related reimbursement," Nuance said in the release.
In April, Nuance purchased Transcend Services, an Atlanta-based medical transcription company, also for undisclosed financial terms.
