“All the health plans in these rankings are exemplary,” said NCQA President Margaret O'Kane, on the organization's website. “First, they measure their quality in ways that help them improve and that make comparing plans possible. Then they take the extra step of revealing their results for the world to see—a true public service.”
Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Colorado, Capital Health Plan, Health New England and Geisinger Health Plan also appeared among the 20 highest-ranked private plans.
NCQA also released its ranked lists of Medicare and Medicaid plans. Topping its list of nearly 400 Medicare plans was Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Southern California, while Fallon Community Health Plan, Worcester, Mass., was No. 1 among 115 Medicaid plans.
