Regarding "Blog: A little patience for the health IT revolution": Thirty-five years ago, I was in the public relations department of a small hospital company when someone tried to sell me a telephone that would allow me to transmit paper documents electronically to our other nine hospitals.
The machine was quite expensive, required long-distance charges and would require us to buy one for all 10 hospitals. I thought I was pretty smart to tell him no. Of course, the fax machine is now almost outdated technology. Wonder where health IT will be in another 10 years.
