Mission Health, N.C. hospital seek affiliation

Rutherford Regional Medical Center, Rutherfordton, N.C., plans to formally negotiate an affiliation agreement with four-hospital Mission Health System, Asheville, N.C.

The board of 116-bed Rutherford Regional decided unanimously to pursue the affiliation, Mission Health said in a news release. The two “will now begin negotiating a nonbinding memorandum of understanding that will detail the terms of the affiliation,” Mission Health said.

The two organizations did not release any additional details, but Mission Health said in the release that terms of the affiliation will be disclosed once the memorandum of understanding “has been finalized and approved by both boards.”
