Kaiser Permanente's Small Hospital, Big Idea Project was an architectural competition and, among its 108 entries, this design is a Modern Healthcare Design Awards Honorable Mention. Architect Felicia Cleper-Borkovi created the design for San Bruno, Calif.-based Aditazz, and says the canopy, pictured here, represents the health care philosophy of “everything under one roof.” The design's lobby offers a “village market” that addresses a Kaiser goal that “community vibrancy should penetrate deep into the hospital.”
