Consumers saw hospital prices drop 0.4% last month, the largest one-month decline since July 2010, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics' Consumer Price Index. The decline follows a rise of 0.4% the prior month. In August 2011, consumer hospital prices climbed 0.5%. Hospital CPI fell 0.4% in July 2010.
Inpatient hospital prices declined more steeply in August, with a 0.7% drop, compared with the 0.4% decline for outpatient hospital prices.
