Siemens Healthcare, Mountain View, Calif., has inked an agreement to purchase Penrith Corp., a maker of integrated ultrasound imaging systems, for undisclosed terms.
The deal, which is expected to close next month, will build Siemens' presence in the ultrasound imaging market, the company said in a news release. Siemens' healthcare information technology business provides systems and software to support medical imaging, patient monitoring, hospital data management and more.
After the transaction is complete, Michael Cannon, president of Plymouth Meeting, Pa.-based Penrith, will become vice president and general manager of point-of-care solutions for the Siemens Healthcare ultrasound business unit. Penrith's niche is in the miniaturization and integration of ultrasound imaging systems.
