This is exactly what Rep. Paul Ryan is after—an engaged conversation with the American people. Anyone wonder why there are details missing from the plan? Because it was never intended to become law in its current format, but rather, a conversation starter.
Engaged conversation is what we need
I agree that free-market principles on their own will not solve our healthcare issues of too many uninsured, lack of access, rising costs, and so on. But no matter what you believe, which side you’re on, you should at least be encouraged that someone within the beltway is not afraid of the words “Medicare” and “insolvent” and “reform.”
Here’s to hoping a healthy dialogue continues and both sides put an end to the non-stop demagoguing.
