Dr. Marvin Garovoy has been named chief medical officer for Medgenics, a developer of protein therapy treatments with offices in San Francisco and Misgav, Israel.

He has been acting CMO since January. His age was unavailable.
Garovoy, a transplant nephrologist, has worked as a biotechnology and pharmaceutical executive for the past 16 years and led or has been involved with the clinical development and Food and Drug Administration submission and approval process for biologics and other drug products, according to a company news release.
He has five patents; was a professor or surgery, medicine and laboratory medicine at the University of California San Francisco; an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School; and served as a major in the Air Force.
