DaVita, based in Denver, seeks to issue $1 billion in senior notes due 2022, and also plans to repay $198.5 million of a term loan and HealthCare Partners' existing debt when the acquisition closes, according to a news release.
Should the HealthCare Partners deal not close by the end of November, DaVita will redeem the newly issued senior notes.
Kent Thiry, DaVita's chairman and CEO, was the second highest-paid CEO in Modern Healthcare's latest executive compensation ranking, with a total compensation package of $29.9 million.
