Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, announced several appointments to its administrative and clinical leadership teams, including the appointment of Dr. Craig Bunnell as chief medical officer.
Bunnell, whose age wasn't provided, was promoted from associate CMO, a post he has held since 2008, according to a Dana-Farber news release. Bunnell replaces Dr. Lawrence Shulman, who was named director of the newly created department of regional strategy development. That post is billed as an expansion on his previous title of director of network development. Shulman also gains the chief of staff title, succeeding Dr. Stephen Sallan, who will become chief of staff emeritus.
"During the past 10 to 15 years, Dana-Farber has undergone significant changes to meet the expanding demand for its cancer-care services and the growth of its research programs," said Dana-Farber President Dr. Edward Benz Jr. in the release. "These appointments will enable us to respond to the many systemic and financial changes that are expected to affect how healthcare is provided in the next decade."
