A story in yesterday's Modern Physician incorrectly reported the percentage of emergency department visits for which publicly and privately insured children account. According to a Center for Studying Health System Change report, acute respiratory conditions or common infections accounted for 31.4% of all emergency department visits for Medicaid-enrolled children ages 0-12. These conditions accounted for 22.1% of visits for children of the same age covered by private insurance.
