Arthur Gonzalez, CEO of the Hennepin Healthcare System in Minneapolis, has been named as the finalist to succeed Dr. Patricia Gabow as CEO of the Denver Health and Hospital Authority.
Gabow has held the post since 1992, and last fall she announced her intention to retire this September. She was named to Modern Healthcare's Top 25 Women in Healthcare and 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare lists twice each, and to the 50 Most Influential Physician Executives list four times. She started at Denver Health in 1973 as chief of its renal division.
Denver Health is Colorado's safety-net provider and it is anchored by the 404-bed Denver Health Medical Center.
Gonzalez was selected in a nationwide search and, if an agreement is finalized, he is scheduled to start Sept. 4, according to an e-mailed news release.
