The bipartisan legislation includes a bill sponsored by Reps. Tom Reed (R-N.Y.) and Peter Welch (D-Vt.) in the House and Sens. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) in the Senate called the Rural Hospital Access Act that would extend the Medicare-dependent hospital program and enhanced Medicare low-volume adjustment until Sept. 30, 2013; as well as a bill from Reps. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) and Mike Thompson (D-Calif.) and Sens. Kent Conrad (D-N.D.), Pat Roberts (R-Kan.), Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) and John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) that would extend the outpatient hold harmless provision and another one related to the direct billing of the technical component for pathology services.
Modern Healthcare will track these pieces of legislation. In the meantime, here are the AHA's letters to the House (PDF) and Senate (PDF).
