Lenexa, Kan.-based Mediware, which markets software products for management of blood products and medications, has completed its acquisition of the Cyto Management System, a chemotherapy management software system from Netherlands-based Cobbler ICT Services BV. Mediware paid $2.2 million for the assets in a deal first announced in March.
Mediware completes deal for chemo software system
According to a Mediware news release, Mediware has been considering a move into the chemotherapy management market for more than a year-and-a-half. The company says it plans to use its existing customer base and distribution agreements to boost adoption of the chemotherapy system throughout Europe.
Additionally, Medicare says it also plans to "make the software available to the (United Kingdom) and Irish markets where Mediware's UK-based JAC medication management product suite is used by more than 50% of UK hospitals."
The deal marks the second acquisition so far this year for Mediware. In January, the company bought the assets of St. Louis-based Transtem, a stem cell-therapy software company, for undisclosed terms.
