Carolyn Scanlan, president and CEO of the Hospital & Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania, announced she will retire in December.
Scanlan, 64, joined the association 17 years ago, according to a news release announcing her retirement. Garry Scheib, chairman of the association, praised Scanlan and said the trade group will conduct a national search for her successor. "She took a commitment to healing, health and hope and translated it into concrete, effective advocacy for hospitals—with Pennsylvania's citizens being the ultimate beneficiaries," he said. Scanlan earned $723,285 from the organization in tax year 2010, according to IRS records, which also reflect an additional $154,800 in other compensation from the organization and related organizations.
